It is really a work of anthology--which would certainly need to be considered when using an anthology I suspect, the connections and groupings are themselves points for discussion. I'm uncertain how easy it is to get hold of in Britain (University of California Press), and of course it might carry fewer of the poets this list serve serves, but it a good one. I think it also matters what level the students are at. An anthology [...]46_26Feb199713:32:[log in to unmask]
4165 21 15_teaching riting17_Caroline [log in to unmask], 28 Feb 1997 10:02:33 +0000560_us-ascii I know Adrian Harding teaching in Paris has been using Conductors of Chaos a lot recently so from other comments on the list it seems to be one which meets with favour. It's a book I've also used this year as well as Politics and Poetics of Form (ed. Bernstein) for its range of approaches and motivations. Also Jackson MacLow's Representative Works (now is that poetry). But overall I stick to individual texts (to teach entire books has become a luxury (sadly) with the kind of cross media concerns we're also tackling here). CB.49_28Feb199710:02:[log in to unmask] |

Susan Howe has Alan coming over to read at Buffalo and I thought as he is over...When I last spoke to Alan he didn't have exact dates arranged, but while I think about it (knowing how early fall budgets are allocated, I hope I am not too late already) I wanted to lodge that little nugget of info in any brains out there looking to present something spiffy and real in the [...]46_02Mar199712:35:[log in to unmask] |

Dear Mr Evans,
A promise is a promise. Impossible though this may be for you to entertain.
My uncle forwarded (via the friendly female deacon here) a copy of your
letter to the designers and I am astonished that you should turn your back
on the traditions of your firm with such deliberate and thoughtless haste.
It was my uncle who made the inquiry about the conservatory. You weren't to
know that he is also the aged photocopier engineer at BIG PICTURE, nor that
the conservatory was intended lure his destitute niece back from cardboard
city.
A just inscription should be a poetic event. Unpredictable. But surely
this is an impossible decision, 'to suggest demolition', impossible
invention. But as Uncle new all too well, I roam(s) and I's lost in the
community of ... violence. Poor Jean.
Now, I will have nowhere of my own to live. And soon it will be Christmas.
Yours faithfully,
Jean Jackson
