Call for papers:
"Tracing Ovidian Genealogies in the Late Middle Ages,"
Rutgers University, April 26, 1997.
An interdisciplinary colloquium in French, Medieval, Renaissance and Art
History Studies. Keynote Speakers: Renate Blumenfeld-Kosinski, University of
Pittsburgh; Kevin Brownlee, University of Pennsylvania. We are particularly
interested in papers focusing on the 14th-century Ovide Moralise and
reception of Ovid's Metamorphoses in Medieval and Renaissance France.
Possible sessions topics: paganism and clerical culture; the invention of
the vernacular Ovid; historia and fabula; decoding medieval and Renaissance
myths.
