By way of introduction:
My main responsibility is as Acquisitions Librarian for the whole of
the University of Warwick Library, and I also look after the subject
area of Italian within the Library, often in conjunction with the
academic staff. My own interests are the literature and history of (a)
the medieval and Renaissance periods, and (b) the 19th and 20th
centuries (in the latter case particularly the Kingdom of
Naples/Mezzogiorno); also Italian publishing.
As regards Italian book buying for the Library, we order all our our
Italian books from Casalini in Fiesole, who also send me monthly
listings of new publications. I would be interested to hear of other
libraries' experiences in Italian book purchase, and whether they
have much success in obtaining out-of-print material.
