I think one way to reach consensus might be as follows:
for each DC field, specify
(1) a name to use in HTML (e.g. DC.ankleGirth, DC.Author) in a canoninacal
form (all lower case or all upper case or whatever).
(2) for the guidance of professional catalo---er, indexers, give a list
of corresponding fields in some other standards
(3) give a textual description of each field.
We don't have to agree on Author or Creator or God or Science, but can
instead agree on a symbol to use to represent the concept, and agree
that the field written as Author is also used for the composer of a piece
of music (not necessarily the creator of a recording) as well as the
artist who drew a picture, the architect of a blueprint, and so on.
