Neil raises some interesting points, but with reference to an earlier
comment (sorry,I cannot remember who by!) it would be interesting for
someone to rehearse the argument WHY a national organisation representing
British geography is actually necessary. Given the widespread use of the
Internet, teh importance of Research Groups (some of which are already
independent or quasi-independent), the role of bodies such as the Heads
of Departments (which can and do represent geography nationally), what
ACTUALLY is the value of a national body?
