19th Annual Colloquium on IR Research
8-9 April 1997, Aberdeen, Scotland
The BCS-IRSG's Annual Colloquium on IR Research is an established event
in the conference calendar. In 1997, the 19th Colloquium is to be held
in Aberdeen, Scotland, sponsored jointly by two schools of The Robert
Gordon University (RGU): the School of Computer and Mathematical
Sciences (SCMS), and the School of Information and Media (SIM).
The main aim of the Colloquium is to provide a forum for IR researchers
to disseminate their work in an informal atmosphere. The priority is to
promote both young researchers and research in progress.

ABOUT THE COLLOQUIUM
The BCS-IRSG Colloquium is an annual event, and this Colloquium is the
19th in a series of highly successful such events. This is a great
opportunity to meet your research peers in a relaxed and informal
setting.
The programme begins on the morning of 8 April, and concludes at
lunch-time on 9 April. In addition to presentations of accepted papers,
the Colloquium will have a keynote speaker.
The cost of the Colloquium will be approximately 130 UK Pounds, which
includes two nights' accommodation (7-8 April), meals, and the
Colloquium proceedings. If required, accommodation is available for the
evening of 9 April after the Colloquium.
The Colloquium will be held at Aberdeen University Conference Centre,
and single-room student accommodation (with/without en suite
facilities) will be available on site.
Aberdeen is always(!) warm and dry in April. On the afternoon of 9
April, a coach tour and pub meal are planned. Depending on the weather,
an easy hill-walk or a visit to a castle will be on offer. There will
be a small additional charge for this.
