INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGER
RURAL HISTORY CENTRE, UNIVERSITY OF READING
A person with enthusiasm and flair is required to develop, implement and
manage computerised cataloguing and information retrieval systems for the
Centre's nationally important research collections of artefacts, archives,
published literature, photographs and biographical indexes. Oracle
Libraries software, already in partial use, will form the basis for the new
integrated system.
The postholder will be a member of a small team of academic and curatorial
staff and will take a lead role in all aspects of computer provision in the
Centre, including that to be provided in a new building currently being
planned.
The successful applicant is likely to be a graduate with a qualification in
information science, working experience in database management and UNIX
systems, and good communication and teamworking skills.
The appointment is intended to be 'permanent' subject to completion of a
satisfactory one year probationary period. Salary in range L14317 to L15986
per annum (ALC Grade 1) or L16628 to L21519 per annum (ALC Grade 2) with
USS benefits.
