Dear Colleagues,
due to a last-minute withdrawal, i have a space open on a panel for the
1997 AAG conference. The panel is centres on the theme "globalisation and
locality" The intent was to consider the effect of globalisation (of
economy, culture, telecommunications) in geographically specific case
studies. The session currently features an interesting range of papers from
and about situations in various parts of the world. The range of topics and
themes is wide open, but it has been our intent to focus more on social and
cultural aspects, including gender/class roles and relations, religion,
sport, whatever. We will gladly consider papers with a more urban/economic
theme as well.
Alternatively, if anyone is interested in being a discussant (which you CAN
do even though giving a paper in another session), please let me know ASAP.
Thank you,
Doug Herman
