Chris,
The Anderson report may have just appeared on WWW, but my
understanding is that the report was published, or at least distributed for
comment, in May 1995.
As several recommendations make specific reference to research council
libraries, I have been wondering, at grass roots level, what had happened
to the report, and whether any of the recommendations, particularly the
development of OPACS (para 58), had any chance of being implemented.
Now the funding of access arrangements is apparently under review. I
would have thought networked availability of catalogue information, and
the development of cooperative arrangements (para 67), might have taken
precedence.
Do you know if the Director General of the Research Councils has
responded to the report, and if so, what was the response?
Regards,
John Beckett
