Subject: Bibliographic database icons
To: Multiple recipients of list INTERCAT <[log in to unmask]>
Dear INTERCAT subscribers,
Im invloved in a project on the Stirling Web to produce a standard set
of icons for use with bibliographic database applications. The
project is funded by the International Federation of Library Associations
and Institutions and addresses the need for a "core set of icons, with
universally aggreed meanings".
At this time a collection of documents has
been published on the World Wide Web allowing users to interacively
vote for their prefered icons. This 'on-line polling' allows the
preferences of the user to be acknowledged in the search for a
proposed standard.
Please visit the Web page at
http://lorne.stir.ac.uk/iconstd/
and cast your vote.
Any comments or suggestions for alternative icons would
be greatly appreciated.
Steven Carr.
