On the 'On-Demand Publishing in the Humanities Project' Web pages
(http://www.livjm.ac.uk/on_demand/)
we have recently added a section entitled 'Findings to date'. This
section is intended to share what we are learning as the project
progresses with interested parties.
Three new sections include:
- an 'Evaluation Up-date'. The 'Evaluation Update' currently outlines
some preliminary findings from our first group of end-users and
explains how these findings are feeding into the on-going development
of the On-demand system. The 'Evaluation Up-date' section will be
expanded and updated as the evaluation proceeds (Last update:
05/06/96).
- an article entitled 'Agreeing a price for electronic documents', which
discusses the problems involved in agreement, the need for ground
rules and factors which should influence cost.
- a 'Progress Update' section, which details technical developments and
findings as they take place. Subjects covered so far include 'Auditing
and Security', 'Digitisation' and 'User feedback'. A detailed report on our
findings for scanning and Optical Character recognition will be added
shortly.
Any comments are welcome,
Sarah Porter (Project co-ordinator)
