INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
OPEN UNIVERSITY LIBRARY
Applications are invited for this new post, which has been created to
further develop
information technology based services and systems in the Library generally,
and in
particular to focus on the delivery of these to our large numbers of
distance learners who
are based in their own homes. The post holder will join the Library s
senior management
team, and will contribute to the strategic planning of services as a whole
as well as the
operational leadership of a team of professional IT staff.
It is expected that candidates will be able to demonstrate substantial
experience of the
management of IT services and systems in higher education in support of
teaching and
research, and have an understanding of the particular requirements of a
distance teaching
environment. A lively awareness of current developments in IT and academic
libraries as
well as good communication, leadership and team-building skills are
essential
requirements. Candidates should be graduates with postgraduate
qualifications in
librarianship or information science, or equivalent qualification.
Appointment will be made at an appropriate point on the Academic Related
Grade 4 salary
scale ?24,132 - ?28,634 p. a. according to qualifications and experience.
