'Petroleum and Nigeria's Environment' which is being held at the
Society's House on Monday 15th April. This forum is open to anyone
with an interest in the subject matter, but please register before the
meeting if at all possible. There is a ?5 charge, ?2 extra for a
sandwich lunch (optional), but no charge for full-time students.

Following recent public concern over the human and physical impacts of
oil extraction activities in Nigeria, the Royal Geographical Society
(with The Institute of British Geographers) will hold an open forum to
hear different views from a wide range of speakers concerning this
important environmental issue. The meeting will focus on the Niger
Delta as a whole.
Speakers will give short presentations following which participants
will be able to put questions to the panel of speakers.
The panel has been chosen to represent a balance of views and will
include:

? Gamaliel Onosode, Chairman, Niger Delta Environment Survey
The aim of the meeting is to hear considered opinions, to clarify the
debate on this subject, and to come away better informed about
environmental change in Nigeria.
