I had a fairly similar experience a few years ago: saw a 9 year old girl
with a sore throat on a Friday evening (ha!) and gave usual advice but no
PenV. Mum came to see me with her about three months later with another
sore throat. It transpires that she had been admitted to hospital 8 hours
after our last consultation with quinsy, and the sho said "...
Mum demanded PenV for the URTI on the second occasion. Ho-hum.
The big question is: why did she come back to me, as she wasn't even my
patient? To tell me off, get one over me, alter my prescribing, or was it
just that she really liked my consultation style? :-)
