>From an article on page 2 of the current `Computer Weekly':
Top IT boss quits NHS Management Group
Ray Rogers is to leave his job as the health service's
top IT executive...
Rogers has told staff that he has become tired of the
stress of working in Leeds, where the IMG is based,
and living in Surrey.
He will leave in August next year for another posting
within the Department of Health, details of which have
not been determined.
(the article goes on to describe IMG disasters)
But medium-ranking IT staff at the IMG said the
departure of Rogers is unlikely to change the culture
of the organisation, which they say remains secretive and
defensive of criticism.
In the past few days, the IMG is said to have responded tp
criticism by MPs and others by changing locks on doors and
filing cabinets to prevent further information being leaked
to journalists. In a separate move the IMG reminded staff
that they were subject to the Official Secrets Act.
Well, there you have it then. I will never forget my first meeting
with Rogers, which is recounted in `An Update on the BMA Security
Policy' (http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/users/rja14/#Med).
I wonder if anybody else has a favourite Ray Rogers anecdote?
Ross
