As it happens, now that you mention the word "novel", three of my
four unpublished novels are now up and running on my webpages. This
includes "Hidden Agenda", a story about a GP who succumbs to the
advances of a representative of the pharmaceutical industry, then
stands by while his life falls apart.
No, it is not wishful thinking.
No, it is not (even semi-) autobiographical.
Yes, everyone will enjoy it. :)

I have given this matter a lot of thought over the weekend. Thanks
to all those who replied by email. I have decided to turn down the
offer. The decision was lubricated by numerous house-calls on Friday
and Saturday, requested by patients who were not acutely ill. Even
at 30-50 quid a go, I do not think I would cope very well with
requests to visit at a city centre hotel, 20 minutes drive from my
home. One of my professional aims is to reduce the number of
house-calls I make to zero. The offer of more cash was tempting for
a few days but, in the end, I would rather become a...
lumberjack!
No, I meant a published author. Though, of course, to do this, I
will have to lern to right and spel properly. A grasp of grammar and
syntax, and a vague idea about plot development and characterisation
wouldn't go amiss. However, the ablility to deflect criticism (a
sure sign of poor self-image) by doing it all myself is
well-developed!
