I'm working on a practice manual - especially for EMIS ( we're getting a
new partner.. so a vague idea is becoming reality!)
I'm trying to do it both as a paper based system and as a
hypertext, interactive disc.. very educational for me!
Is there any interest in developing a standard framework , adaptable for
the individual practice - bit like SFAs in the Red Book...? and in
hypertext(as an option!)
For instance, my manual will contain practice specific data(who's who
in the practice, practice protocols and mission statement, how _we_use
Red code and organise data),general IM information (data protection
act, acess to medical information act, protocols on releasing medical
information over the phone etc), system specific information( details on
how to use EMIS,quicklists, contact numbers,and how we,as a practice,use
our system and organise information within it), general
training/roles/duties/contact information(for practice, attached staff,
health authorities, social services, trusts, self-help groups and others
- some local, some national) etc.(I'll emphasise here that I've only just
started on this- but a lot of the material already exists..) :-<
It seems to me that there is an opportunity to pool both methodology( a
pre-packed hypertext manual - just slot in your own details and updates
for each page ) and content - especially for the general problems (Data
Protection Act, Personell , practice and computer security, use of Read
Code, Health and Sfety Act and regulations, new forms etc etc).
localities could develop pages of local information(HAs, local trust nos
and addresses , etc) - and user groups could pool system specific
pages.. and just slot them in.
I *can't* be the *only* senior partner trying to make the induction of a
new partner as painless (for the partner and the existing partners and
staff..) as possible .. and I'd rather not have to reinvent the wheel ..
if possible.
could we start a subgroup?
