Is there any body out there ?
This is my first try at using the GP -UK mail board- I hope I am not
breaking any rules and while I realise this is a personal matter I would
like to think it might lead to advances general practice in Australia and
the UK(!)

Dr Ian Charlton  is a thirty eight year old Australian GP with a wife and
two children( age 10 and 7) who wishes to return and work in the Cambridge/
Oxford  area for three to six months commencing April 1997. He has  GMC
registration,  vocational registration and the MRCGP He has a special
interest in asthma in general practice.

Dr Charlton currently works in a 5 man/women  suburban practice in
Kincumber N.S.W. The doctors range in age from 35 to 42. The Practice
organises its own on call of one night per week and one weekend in six.
Each doctor in the practice works 4 days per week and every 4th Saturday
morning. The Practice is located 7 minutes from the Central Coast Beaches
15 minutes from Gosford and one hour North of  Central Sydney.

The practice is fully computerised including patient records and operates
with reception staff, a practice nurse, practice manager and asthma clinic.
The surgery has it's own minor-ops procedure room. The GP's are not
required to perform obstetric deliveries or any other surgical procedures.
The availability of pathology and radiological services means that much of
the medical care of patients can be undertaken by the GP's although there
is ready access to specialists of all persuasions if required.

All in all life is pretty good, however sometimes a change is as good as a
holiday!

Several of the other partners are interested in participating in the
exchange programme once successful contact has been made.
