Can I respond to all those commenting on my lurking around.
Firstly, I do not specialise in suing doctors. I specialise in
co-ordinating large scale litigation through a group of firms that
relate to personal injury caused in circumstances, whether due to
products (which can include drugs) , workplace or the environment, that
are such that there is likely to be many people suffering in a similar
way to our clients. This may include group actions, but not always and
certainly covers issues that thereby involve some element of public
interest.
Many cases do involve doctors and Health Authorities as Defendants, but
that itself is not my speciality per se.
Fore more background, readers should visit our Web site on
http://www.alertuk.com
My case work includes:-
The embryo case that received much publicity a week last Friday
(contrary to yesterdays news stories my client has not withdrawn her
injunction..that related to another case), the haemophilia/HIV group
action (I started and led it to settlement), Benzos (I co-founded it -
did you know it is still running- see my site), Baby Ribena/bottle
caries, Cot Death (the mattress issue, again not over yet-Govt committee
yet to report in full), Human Growth Hormone/CJD (recent partial
victory), Steroids (GP Defendant due for trial later this year), Prozac
(against Manufacturer), various anti-deps (possibly against
prescribers), Pertussis/brain damage (against manufactuer), AZT (against
manufacturer), motorbike "weave" crashes, occupational asthma (campaign
working with doctors), Coal Dust damage to miners (against British Coal
due trial later this year), haemophilia/hepatitis (against the
Department of Health), a large group action in relation to asbestos
released into the environment from fire in disused building and many
others.
In all these cases I either lead the action, or sit on a national
steering committee of lawyers.
I work with doctors. We employ medically trained people. We have had
recently one fully qualified doctor and presently have two nurses in the
practice. We have one semi-retired GP working as in house consultant in
the asthma cases with GPs in practice working on the campaign with us by
screening and referring potential cases. We have other medically
qualified people providing research by e-mail to us from various parts
of the world.
I hope you will understand, therefore, that I find this "them and us "
attitude in some of the messages a bit pathetic. I would like to think
we are all on the same side....that of the patient. Andrew Herd, who
offers to leave if I remain, is seriously inviting an enforced
replacement to the initial letter of his surname.
We all can learn from each other and I find reading some of the postinsg
immensely interesting in putting much colour to my understanding of GP
life. We are starting up a discussion group shortly under our ALeRT
site and you are all invited to join.
