Our current policy is:
"Members are reminded that this is an "academic" list and should not
be used for personal or commercial messages."
Distribution of information is kosher. The above post is an example of
the genre. It is quite clear to readers that <Mike Carey> has lots of
useful products which list members might be interested in, without
there being any specific commercial "advertising" content.
We appreciate that this may be a ludicrously fine line to police and
we rely heavily on list members good sense to make it work. What we do
not want to see is the degeneration of the list into the sort of
"alt.forsale" scenario witnessed in many internet newsgroups.
