Hang on a minute! - Did anyone say that? Neither the systems or older versions
of Read are perfect - but usable and used. Your perjorative words maybe reflect
your personal opinion but not that of the current discussions by Jon Rogers or
myself. I have used 4 different GP systems and was attracted to Medical
Informatics because of them rather than any previous love of IT. Very few
hospital clinical systems are as good, although a few new ones are catching up.
In fact, Withington has a good V3 clinical system in use. Have you seen it?
>If READ really is a 'product' and its success is to be measured by its

Again I would disagree with your contention. Perhaps as an academic you should
define and validate the hypothesis that: <<nobody has so far built a usable
implementation>>. What are the assessment criteria and the evaluation
methodology?
Only kidding, but perhaps it's not only CCC who have to back up generalisations.
The GP-UK dialogue on clinical coding is now very detailed. Anyone out there
feel it's too much or is it of general interest? Please let the protagonists
know.
