We have been handing them out 'free' for years. If you buy in bulk, and hand
out packets of 12 or 18 (depending on the manufacturer) each time, as long as
the woman gets a supply less than 5 times a year you make a small profit on
the contraceptive fee. This has remained the case for several years and our
practice has even succeeded in getting men to send their girlfriends along
for the next supply so that we can claim the fee. If they don't come back for
more, then you have made a profit for supplying condoms. Anyone else doing
this, or are we unique?
Now that a patient signature is no longer required for contraceptive
services, we can presumably ask the man what the name of his partner is and
add her details to the contraceptive list (I am only speculating but please
could someone in the know respond to this this)
