Absolutely right. The GP SWG has been teasing out the different types
of classification. The other classification, which you sort of touch on
later is the "maintenance" classification - ie the way in which the Term
set can be kept logically in trim. Read 3 does appear to support quite
well the navigational, data retrieval and decision support needs,
although these are the subject of evaluation by the PCPRP and their
advisors.
Statistical aggregation may well be via mapping to other
classifications, such as ICD.
