I went to the library yesterday to check this story - It did appear
on the front page on 13 June. The version that is doing the rounds
has been theatrically embellished however. The report concluded
with the statement that a spokesman for the hospital did not know of
"the incident".
It seems to me that the subeditor could not miss the opportunity of a
funny headline. I shall try to follow up and see if there was any
foundation for the story. It seems hard to believe though. The
"ward" must have been an ICU and the "life support equipment" was
presumably a ventilator - which are usually pressure driven and have
alarms.
