I tried to go down that route 2 years ago. Lots of problems until:
Process engineering: forget about "electronic filing". What I did
was to store all that stuff in boxes up in the loft.
Cheap, easy and accessible with a decent loft ladder.
I am pleased to say that to date, we have not had the need to go and
rummage through the stuff !!
However, if you are going to go ahead anyway, there is a little gem
of a program called "KeyFile". I have a phone number somewhere.
