What is your LMC health promotion committee suggesting you do to obtain
approval?
I too would be interested to hear what is happening in other areas. I suspect a good response will prove the value of this medium.
The local Health promotion committee in Glasgow is yet to meet and decide the way forward, therefore despite this weeks article in GP (July 19 Page 8) which suggests that Glasgow LMC has "made targets one of the central features of its proposals for a screening programme designed to tackle hypertension" and " The LMC guidance suggests targets similar to those used in cervical cytology programme which means that, an agreed proportion of the practice population would be screened within three years. Regular follow-up checks were also proposed." there is nothing in concrete as yet.
I was interested to read of the West Midlands NHSE's approach which has a 2 sided A4 form that is "user friendly with only simple and brief GP replies" taking "only a matter of minutes to complete".
Can anyone source this original material or similar.
I declare my personal interest as Chairman of the local GP Audit Committee and thus seconded onto the Health Promotion Cttee. Despite this I am not sure that the all-singing all dancing approach is the way forward as opposed the Mickey Mouse (TM) approach with tick the box forms. I would welcome your opinions and information from around the regions for input to our own Cttee.
I would also welcome anyone who can offer references giving evidence where Health Promotion has shown to be of proven value.
Thanks Craig Lennox
