I thought some of you might be interested in the costs of "migrating" to
the new NHSnet.... this taken from a letter to Trent LCMG from AT&T.
"Our policy on the migration of customers from their current network
connection to the NHSnet in order to access applications at AT&T is, in
summary -
1. If a customer wishes to make a change they should contact their AT&T
account manager or salesman.
2. The account manager will review their current system with the
communications team and then respond to the customer with a quotation.
3. The quotation will obviously be tailored to each customer's
requirements, however, there are certain standard charges which are
likely to apply -
One off installation charge £500
Annual rental (1st 64kbps) £2000
Annual rental (additional 64k) £1000
4. The cost of any upgrade to the host machine will be included in the
quotation."
Sections 5-7 deleted - these deal with the local situation for
installation in Trent.
This quote will mostly apply to large NHS organisations - but it does
not specifically exclude GPs. If these figures apply to practices too -
then I (for one) will not bother to "migrate" just yet....
