We only solved it some years ago after deliberately dividing a practice into
two and taking a pay cut for a few yeasr by having too few patients on our
list to give us a breathing space. It worked, it allowed us to get some
organisation done. It did not stop one of the partners having to have three
months off with a depressive illness that was partly work related though. It
also cost us several thousand UKP per year, I estimate my share was about
15,000 over four years before we got near average earnings. The moral of this
tale is that we should go for a decent salary (BMA plaes note)
