We already have supplies of urine collection bags to stick on the
perineum and these are reasonably straightforward when you see a child
in morning surgery - give the parents a kit and get them to transport
the sample to the hospital (which is only two miles from our surgery).
My problem is when I have 8 feverish infants in the waiting room at
the end of evening surgery. At this point you would have to be very
committed either to wait around until they pee, or to follow them up
with housecalls three hours later when they have performed. Hence my
desire for an instant test.

I have an ordinary microscope of the type we all used for Histology
classes, old but in reasonable condition. Would this do? Will I need
cover slips or will just slides alone be ok?
