A few inital impressions re : new forms, so far.
We are IOS linked using Microdoc 7.0
- recognition that the forms are a complete new ball game
- brevity is achieved at the price of use of codes;
but different meaning for A, B , C etc depending on type of GMS4
- steep learning curve needed to implement
- for IOS link, our HA takes the edifact message as the claim
rather than refering to the paper claim submitted
i.e its little use getting the paper right if the Edifact is wrong
- training in electronic claim submission needs to be swift
and efficient, and ensure accuracy
- have someone in control of IOS rejections
this person must report back to everyone else in the
practice who completes electronic claims, to aid education
and reduce errors.
- lack of errors increases the opportunities to have
the paperwork made redundant, and maximses income
(our GMS4's for Contraception are entirely electronic: no paper)
( the scheme was after all, Patients not Paper !)
