All,
There was quite a bit of interest here over the free out of hours
reference material that we send out to newly starting co-operative on
disk. We've sent a number of you disks with copies of it all, but
there were a few requests to see it on the web site. So now it is.
http://www.adastra.co.uk/ref.htm
Sorry if this is seen as advertising, but it is completely free and
will be of use to some people here. <flame jacket on>
avail - a form for determining members' co-operative rota
availability. Avail.doc
charge - a few words on the considerations which need to be taken into
account in determining the co-operative's charging structure. This is
mainly of consequence to co-operatives which face hostility from
commercial deputising services.
co-opqa - A list of common questions about GP Co-ops.
discip - staff disciplinary and grievance procedure.
Also see links with the separate files drivcon and recepcon, which are
the respective forms of staff contract.
drdiscip - a draft disciplinary procedure for members.
drvord - Drivers standing instructions.
mancon and mantor - draft contract and terms of reference for your
general manager.
mmtor - a set of suggested terms of reference for Medical Managers.
Also useful for identifying areas of responsibility within the
co-operative's steering group. We advise co-operatives at the
preparatory stage to have separate GPs monitoring finance; operational
& communications; clinical; staff & administration; and GP liaison (ie
marketing). It is too much for one stalwart!
notice - a draft form of notice to patients for Surgeries entering
co-operative schemes
pracrota - a suggested practice "marginal" rota proforma
premises - some notes on points that need to be anticipated in
planning out-of-hours answering centres
qualstat - A model for a quality statement.
recepman - the receptionists' manual.
rotadiff - a comparison of practice and co-op rotas
rules - Rules of the Association.
manning - Staff manning level reckoner
sbybrief - Briefing notes for the surgery standby doctor pack (local
map book, call slips, admission letters etc).
startup - a form for gathering doctors' and surgery information.
trs - a (hopefully useful) offering on handling unregistered patients.
callhour - Call distribution analysis showing hour-by-hour call volume
for a typical mix of urban and semi-rural territory. Inner-city
schemes might expect their volume to be a bit higher, rural schemes a
bit lower, and there are of course marked seasonal fluctuations, but
these figures provide a reliable median.
capex - a spreadsheet outlining a typical set-up budget.
docpay - a ready-reckoner for evaluating the worth of duty sessions
and the budget for paying duty doctors.
dvrpay - a spreadsheet for drivers' hours and pay
recpay - the corresponding spreadsheet for receptionists
revbudgt - a model of a typical annual revenue budget, showing
expenditure which is potentially recoverable under the revised SFA.
Best wishes
James
