It is the "something like" that I am getting at. If all you want is to
see a lab result, then I agree this mechanism might work, but if you
want to have different views of the data then it needs to have structure
defined. This structure definition is all that EDIFACT is about. It is
a definition that is widely used in commerce and health care in Europe.
How would you generate a graph of Hb results from HTML? How would you
use an INR result, with previous INRs, and other clinical information to
calculate the next Warfarin dosage? You need to have structure and
consistency if you are to do anything other than view a result.
