My shortlist...
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (John Berendt)
The Shipping News (E. Annie Proulx)
Sex, Death and Fly Fishing (John Gierach)
An Empire of the East (Norman Lewis)
The Physics of Star Trek (Lawrence M. Krauss) This one gets my award for
most lurid cover of the decade. It is a sort of Brief History of Time
meets Trekdom. I haven't watched Star Trek for years and don't have any
interest in the series, but someone gave me the book as a present and it
is a real howler. Have you ever considered how much fuel the Enterprise
would need to carry?
