? ectopic: I don't think a pregnancy test would make much
difference, specially if negative. From my days as O&G Reg., most
of my ectopic diagnoses were a hunch. Ectopic requires a suspecious
mind.
If in doubt, admit. Don't bother with pregnancy testing.
On the wider issue of surgery testing:
I used to offer them free. Now, the policy is:
- explain that in-Surgery kit is no different from at-home or
hospital test.
- explain that the can have a free test if sample sent to hospital,
results back in few days.
- if patient in a hurry, offer in-Surgery test at 5 pounds (kit
costs c. 2.50).
- accept at-home results.
