During the "Oxford System of Medicine" project a few years back we looked
at GP services and practice across the EU. Some of the interesting
differences related to the prominence given to specific conditions, and the
actions taken. For instance, in Germany, low blood pressure and something
that roughly translates as "heart insufficiency" were important. In
France, prescriptions were much more complex.
However, all of these were understandable on the basis of what is taught
and done here - we just don't think about it in the same way or "do it like
that here" - which also fits in with the observation that it is often
easier to explain a decision than to make one.
