consultancy, health services development and clinical liaison. It is a new and
exciting development embracing the sections of Health Economics, Operational

Research, Information Resources, Public Health, General Practice, the Centre for
Ageing and Rehabilitation Studies and the Medical Care Research Unit. It also

with an appropriate background. The remit will be to pursue a programme of
high quality personal research within the field of primary care, facilitate the
establishment of national and international research networks and supervise
graduate research students. The postholder will draw together the large number
of individuals in the School who have strong interests and a track record of
substantial research in primary care.

Applicants will have extensive experience of primary care and a
multi-disciplinary orientation and should have demonstrated achievement in
research of international standing within the field of primary care. A higher
research degree (MD or PhD) would be highly desirable.

The salary will be on the scale for Professorial Staff.

CLINICAL CHAIR IN PUBLIC HEALTH
- SECTION OF PUBLIC HEALTH
(Ref R1035B)

The successful applicant will be the Head of the Section of Public
Health and will provide leadership in research, teaching, training, and clinical
liaison in public health, within the collaborative framework provided by the
School. As a minimum, the Chair will be supported by four Senior Lecturers, a
Senior Researcher and by several associate and honorary academic posts. The
Chair will be expected to contribute to the further expansion of the Section, and
will work closely with a new Chair in Public Health, in the emerging Asean
Medical College, which has its programmes taught in Sheffield and Ipoh,
Malaysia.

Applicants should have demonstrated achievement in research of
international standing and have experience in administration in teaching and
training in public health. A higher research degree (MD or PhD) would be highly
desirable.

The salary will be on the scale for Clinical Professorial Staff.

CLINICAL SENIOR LECTURER IN PUBLIC HEALTH
- TRENT INSTITUTE FOR HEALTH SERVICES RESEARCH
(Ref R1035C)

This is a new post in the Sheffield Unit of the Trent Institute for
Health Services Research, which links closely with the Units in Leicester and
Nottingham. As a working base, the successful applicant will be located within
the Section of Public Health of the School of Health and Related Research.

The postholder will have three main duties:
