Sadly, the issue is no more complicated than the fact that we vote
(directly or indirectly) for those who represent our interests.
Think for a minute about whether or not you would run for office.
I wouldn't. Can't stand meetings. Can't abide hypocrisy. Can't
stomach take the puerile 'cut and thrust' of schoolground
arguments (except on usenet!).
Ergo, it is the type of people who actually enjoy this kind of
thing that get elected. Which is why nothing ever gets done.
