Photographers for the GP weeklies love taking photos of
GPs who are supposedly at the 'cutting edge' of modern
general practice in their 'well-equipped' treatment rooms/
operating theatres. Usually, the photos are taken so that
the operating light (positioned neatly behind the head of
the aggressive GP) looks like a halo.
A few years ago, before general practice became a first
choice option for young doctors, there were a high number
of 'failed surgeons'. Perhaps now, these docs are grasping
the opportunity at last. Years of frustration, dealing with
snotty noses when they wanted to be resecting colons, are
at an end now that, by becoming a megafudholder, they can
perform herniorraphies, ram endoscopes up or down every
orifice imaginable, and so on.
Hmmm, must see what the going rate is for a second hand
operating theatre light - one of those 'proper' ones with
a seven or more integral lights.
