I worked on a project to do with health telematics some time ago
(?1.5 years ago) and
discovered a whole load of work - the name of the project was Pepita
and there is a web site for it at sunderland university. There are
also several books / numerous papers on the subject.
A book by marjorie Gott called something like health telematics comes
to mind other references + my comments that I give the students are:
Rinde E Nordrum I Nymo JB 1993 Telemedicine in rural Norway World Health Forum 14 71 - 77.
Good article examples of systems already running in several different areas. I have a copy.
Editorial Telemedicine: fad or future. The Lancet 345 [January 14th] 73 - 74 I have a copy.
Dobson R Telematics; The cutting edge. The Independent 5th Feburary 1995 66 - 67.
Details of several projects in the UK. I haver a copy.
Telematics in Medicine: Reconnecting Health, Marjorie Gott
Radcliffe Medical Press, ISBN 1 85775 023 3.
This book provides a series of case studies (none from the UK) £13
I have a copy. Interesting first chapter on information systems in health care.
Author comes from Sunderland.
Health Telematics for Clinical Guidelines and Protocols,
Eds. Colin Gordon (brompton hospital) and Jens P. Christensen, IOS Press.
Series of articles suggesting how guidelines and protocols could be implemented
using telematics techniques. Expensive. I have a copy.
good luck
