Dear Colleagues: (My appolgies for cross-posting on GP/FP Lists.)
Please help us identify the best examples of Family Medicine and primary
care research. We are trying to identify prime examples of published
studies that have had the greatest impact upon patient care, practice and
policy. The aim is to use these examples to help educate practitioners,
payors, research funding agencies, legislators and other policy makers
about the value of research in Family Medicine and primary care.
Please send me your nominations. Full citations would be most helpful, but
author, title or vague recollections of "landmark" papers will also be
useful. Think both big and small. We want to assemble a long list of
actual studies that are excellent examples of research that has:
- improved patient outcomes,
- increased access to care,
- saved money or re-directed resources,
- changed the way we practice or teach,
- influenced the evolution of the health care system,
- demonstrated excellent science at work,
- improved patient care, informed practice or influenced policy.
We want studies from both Family Medicine/General Practice and from the
larger field of primary care research. Studies from North America and
around the world all deserve consideration.
Send your nominations directly to me at: [log in to unmask]
Thank you for your help. We will distribute the resulting bibliography
on this list and hope to develop a published list for others to use in
promoting Family Medicine and primary care research.
