Ewan Davis commented on the PRS debate .......
WO>Most Rural pharmacies were killed by dispensing GPs years ago. I'm on
WO>the third glass of red wine and I don't want it diluted with crocodile
WO>tears.
Oh!
Dear Ewan
Cobblers - I will confine myself to facts and not promote
your alcohol induced tears.
1. In the NHS there never were rural pharmacies which is why
rural dispensing doctors were permitted to continue when
the NHS started.
2. Over the years there has been a steady _loss_ of
dispensing rights to many GPs throughout the country, now
reaching epidemic proportions because of the "loophole"
and the essential small pharmacy scheme that underpins
small economically impotent pharmacies at the taxpayers
expense.
3. In the late 70s / early 80s there were certain drug
wholesalers who would refuse to supply to dispensing GPs.
Remind us which large drug wholesaler is part of AAH
Meditel's holding/parent company ?!
WO>No, The next script is only issued if the patient has collected the last
WO>one and GP authorisation remains in place. The system is quite clever in
WO>predicting on an individual basis when the next PRN script is likely to
WO>be needed and learns as it goes.
WO>PRS have done a credible job and have many of the angles covered, but I
WO>still struggle to see the benefits to GPs or patients and would welcome
WO>help in deciding if AAH Meditel should provide an interface, which at
WO>the end of the day depends if our customers want one.
How about giving us proper compliance checking with our basic
system first - something I have been asking for for years.
