I seek your opinion about Skin-Cap a product that a few of my patients have
bought to treat their psoriasis. Once they have tried it they feel it is
better than anything other product. It is available off prescription but as
it costs 15UKP there has been pressure for us to prescribe it. The
pharmaceutical advisor has said it would not be challenged if we do.
It's constituents on the leaflet are
Each ml. of aerosol solution contains:
- Zinc Piritionate........................2mg
- Methyl ethyl Sulfate Sodium.....1mg
- Excipient q.s.
It is distributed in the UK by Cheminova U.K. Ltd, Bournemouth, Dorset
(U.K.)
Laboratorios Cheminova Internacional, S.A.
Macerena, 14 - 28016 Madrid, Spain
The concern that I and my partners have is that some patients are getting a
rebound flare up if they stop using it. The product is so good that one
could mistakenly think it contained a steroid which it clearly does not
from it's ingredient list. We are sending a yellow card to the CSM although
it is not listed.
As anyone one experience of this product either here or Spain where the
parent company is?
