My "CyberDoc" service had about 600 queries in the first few weeks.
Most of the requests for information came from America, usually from
college kids.
The common theme to them all is the cost of health care in the
States. Many saw the service as a very useful one.
I do not diagnose nor prescribe. I always advise them to see their
doctor as well. I have a legally vetted disclaimer posted on the
site. Most of the time I am giving directions to sources of
healthcare information on the Internet.
The CyberDoc service is currently suspended because of pressure on my
time and resources (the service is free).
I also have a couple of email enabled patients on my List who ask me
for advice or information by email. This saves them the time and
effort of taking a half day off work just to ask me a question. I
would like to see that expand.
I do believe, however, that there is a need for a reliable and
creditable reference source for medical information catering for the
users of the Internet.
