Rules of the House:
1. Avoid *all* intimate exminations of all patients if you can. It's
disgusting! Certainly on a Monday morning.
How achieved: my nurse does them all.
2. Hang a big notice in waiting room asking patients to indicate if they
wish to be chaperoned.
2. If examination is going to be intimate, ask the patient if she/he
wishes to be chaperoned (Receptionist chaperones).
3. Sometimes the examination is intimate but does not require
chaperoning, for example, examining a fundus. I say to patient
that I will have to get right up close beforehand.
4. Become single handed, you would normally know the potential trouble
maker.
