Subject: Re: Restricting referrals
I can see we are coming to a situation in which patients are going to
need to ask GPs for the current HA/Trust referral situation whenever
presenting with an illness. Would GPs be prepared to post suitable
notices up in surgery?

One of our local hospital trusts has stopped doing routine elective surgery
for patients of non fundholding Lincolnshire practices.
(I posted a message about this a few weeks ago)
We have put a large notice up in surgery informing patients of this.
Firstly, I feel that patients have a right to know what is going on. Secondly,
it is OUR staff that have to deal with the questions "Why haven't I been
admitted for my operation yet?" etc.
