I thoroughly agree with this - but it overlooks the problems of two
different communities trying to understand each other. Even plain
English is sometimes ambiguous to the designer of a system trying to
meet a user's requirements, and thus in complex areas (like medicine)
things often don't turn out how we would like.
I go along with Peter Szolovits' notion that the Medical Informatics
community needs (some) people who (a) understand both sides of the coin
really thoroughly (b) are capable of communicating with the two
communities of users and designers/implementers (c) concentrate on
principles rather than details which may be irrelevant.
