I agree, there is only so many rare reactions/side effects that one can take
in. Powerful drugs have powerful side effects.
I found out this weekend that penicillin causes fatal convulsions in
hamsters. All new drugs have to undergo toxicity testing in hamsters. If
penicillins were isolated today they would not get beyond the early toxicity
trials. EBM is all very well as long as the evidence is relevant and
appropriate analysis of the correct data.
