Primary Health Care Specialist Group
Autumn Meeting
GP Computers -Are they good for your Health?
General Practice is in turmoil. The Department of Health has multiple
initiatives in the IT field, all of which affect GPs, their staff and
Health Authority personnel. Many aspects appear threatening. Some
appear fascinating but how do you do it? How will new hardware and
software affect our day to day lives and how will we afford it if we
want it? What are the realities of the suggested threats to patient
confidentiality from NHS computer projects?
This Conference will bring everyone up to date with the issues
surrounding GP computerisation. It will describe both the technical
areas and the practical ways in which computer systems can be used.
There will be a particular emphasis on the use of data in GP systems.
How to ensure it is entered accurately and appropriately. How to use
that data easily and effectively.
The streams are designed so that there is always something happening
which will be of interest to a delegate, no matter how computer literate
they may be or what discipline they belong to.
INTERNET CAFE:
There will be an Internet Caf available throughout the Conference.
Experienced and In-experienced users can "surf" the Internet with expert
advice provided. There will also be sessions teaching delegates how to
build their own Websites..
Target Audience:
GPs who are interested in Computer Technology
