UK QUALITY INDICATORS CONFERENCE: PRELIMINARY
ANNOUNCEMENT

This is a preliminary announcement of a a major one day conference
to take place on Tuesday 11th March 1997 at the Gosforth Park Hotel,
Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
Objectives
* To provide a forum for discussion of the use and potential of
quality indicators in health care.
* To provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of national
programmes of indicators (e.g. population outcome indicators, Scottish
health outcome indicators etc.).
* To bring together interested individuals to share practical
experiences.
* To discuss and debate the appropriate use of indicators as a tool
for quality improvement.
Speakers already organised include, Sir Kenneth Calman, Chief Medical
Officer, Departemnt of Health; Professor Martin McKee, London School
of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; Vahe Kazandjian, Vice President for
Research, Maryland Hospital Association, Baltimore USA; Professor
Elisabeth Russell, Aberdeen, Scotland; Dr John Cooper, Norway; Dr
Alastair McColl, Southampton.
