I was lucky enough to go to Vancouver for the International AIDS
conference, where two companies were demonstrating their home testing kits,
one of which I think was saliva based. One of their reps told me that they
were looking to start pushing for their introduction in the UK, but the
scare over the Abbott testing kits earlier this year had made them delay
things for a while. The feeling among activists there was home testing is
without doubt in the immediate future, and that especially primary care
services should brace themselve for the fallout...
